What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are used to store small pieces of information. Cookies are stored on your device when the website is downloaded to your browser. These cookies help us to make the website work properly, to make it safer, to provide a better user experience and to understand how the website behaves and analyse what is working and what needs to be improved.
What are the different types of cookies?
A cookie can be classified according to its lifetime and the domain to which it belongs. By lifetime, a cookie can be
session cookies which are deleted when the user closes the browser or;
persistent cookies, which remain on the user’s computer/device for a predefined period;
With regard to the domain to which it belongs, there are:
- first-party set by the web server of the page visited and sharing the same domain;
- third-party cookies stored by a domain different from the domain of the page visited. This can happen when the web page refers to a file, such as Javascript, which is outside its domain.
What other trackers are used?
Other types of trackers can be used, such as invisible pixels, also known as web bugs or web beacons. These are tiny graphic images that can be placed on a web page or in an email.
Their function is to collect technical information (such as your IP address or the type of device you are using) and information about your activity (such as the date and time you viewed a page) or to enable a third party to place a cookie that sends this information back to a server.
Purpose of cookies and other tracking devices

to store information relating, for example, to a form filled in by the user or to a service (registration, access to the user’s account);
implement security measures;
customise and send you personalised advertising, by means of electronic canvassing or display on your terminal, in advertising spaces containing cookies issued by us; this is made possible by the personal data that you communicate to us, in particular when you register or access and use one of our services, to which we link the cookies that we issue;
when you access a third party site containing advertising space displaying one of our advertisements, in order to send you that advertisement, which may be sent to you by recognising one of our cookies that we have previously placed on your browser. These cookies may be defined and used by our technology providers;

Cookies integrated into third-party applications on our sites or services
We may include third-party computer applications on our site that allow you to share content on our site with other people or to let these other people know your views or opinions on content on our site. This is particularly the case with the “Share” and “Like” buttons from social networks such as “Facebook”, “Twitter”, “Linkedin”, etc.
The social network can identify you via this button, even if you did not use it when visiting our site. This type of application button may allow the social network concerned to track your browsing on our site, for the sole reason that your social network account has been activated on your browser (open session) when browsing our site.
We have no control over the process used by the social networks to collect information relating to your browsing on our site and associated with the personal data in their possession. We advise you to consult the terms of use of your data on these social networks to find out how they use the browsing information they may collect through these application buttons, particularly for advertising purposes. It is important to ensure that the conditions of use of these social networks allow you to control and limit the use of your data by these networks, in particular by configuring your user accounts with them.
How can I check my cookie preferences?
When you visit our site for the first time, you will be asked to accept or refuse the use of certain cookies.
If you do not want cookies to be installed or read on your terminal, a rejection cookie will be placed on your terminal so that the bernard-et-fils.fr site can record the information that you have rejected the use of cookies. If you delete this rejection cookie, it will no longer be possible to identify you as a user who has rejected the use of cookies and it will therefore be necessary to renew your consent.
