Everything about the brand

Vogue: an advent calendar that rebuilds its own box every year

Vogue’s advent calendar is not made by the magazine itself: it is a £355 box of full-size products from other premium brands, hand-picked each year by British Vogue‘s editors and sold only through the magazine’s own shop. We have priced it every autumn since 2023, and no two editions we have seen have shared the same box design.

This page covers the brand behind the calendar, how the edit and its packaging have changed season to season, and what our own price archive says about it. For the day’s price and stock, the listing below carries the current detail.

The essentials in five points

  • One edition, £355 currently: unlike several rivals on this page, Vogue has never split its calendar into an entry-level and a premium tier.
  • Priced by us for three seasons: £350 in 2023, £355 in both 2024 and 2025.
  • A new box shape every year: a ribbon-tied book in 2023, a red fold-out in 2024, a cream townhouse in 2025.
  • £75,000 a year to charity, as stated on Vogue’s own product page.
  • Who it suits: a Vogue reader who likes being handed several designer names at once, not someone loyal to a single beauty house.

Vogue began in 1892 as a New York society weekly, founded by Arthur Baldwin Turnure. Condé Montrose Nast bought the title in 1909 and built it into the fashion authority it is today. British Vogue followed in 1916, the first of its international editions, and it is British Vogue, not the American title, that puts its name on this calendar.

That parentage matters for what is inside the box. Vogue does not manufacture skincare or make-up: its calendar is a curated edit, a magazine’s list of what its beauty desk rates that year, built from other brands, not its own. Recent boxes have carried names such as Charlotte Tilbury, La Mer and Laura Mercier, alongside jewellery and lifestyle extras, plus a digital subscription to the magazine itself.

One detail is worth pinning down, because coverage of this calendar does not agree on it. Several outlets described the 2024 edition as British Vogue’s debut luxury calendar. Our own catalogue tells a different story: we priced a Vogue Festive Calendar at £350 in 2023, a year earlier, and that matches a trade report published on 1 September 2023 describing a £350, 25-drawer calendar due to launch on 22 September that year (The Industry, 1 September 2023). The 2024 box was not the first one on sale: it was the second one we, and the trade press, had already seen.

Data · evolution over time

From £350 to £355, and three different boxes in three years

The pattern across three editions

  • £350 to £355, the only price move we have recorded, between the 2023 and 2024 editions; it held for 2025.
  • Three box shapes in three years: a ribbon-tied book (2023), a red fold-out (2024), a cream townhouse (2025).
  • A year older than some coverage suggests: our own archive and a dated trade report both place the calendar’s start in 2023, not 2024.
  • One line, no tiers: unlike several rivals compared further down this page, the brand has never split its calendar into an entry and a premium version.

The 2023 edition arrived as a black book-shaped box tied with ribbon, its doors printed with vintage magazine cover art; full-size extras such as a candle and a body cream sat outside the box, and we priced the whole thing at £350. For 2024, the price moved to £355 and the box became a red fold-out structure, still built from vintage cover panels. Vogue’s own product page has described that kind of edition as containing ‘over £1,650 worth of high-end gifts’ and said the brand is ‘delighted to be donating £75,000 of the proceeds to a number of charities close to Vogue’s heart again this year’, a phrasing that implies the giving did not start with that edition either. By 2025, the price had settled at £355 for a second year, but the box changed shape again into an illustrated cream townhouse, complete with a heart-shaped keyring and a full-size Nuxe oil among the extras; our own listing for that edition counts 32 items.

The value claim itself eased slightly between those two editions, from over £1,650 in 2024 to over £1,600 in 2025, at the same £355 price.

2024 £355 Red fold-out box, the brand’s own page claimed over £1,650
2023 £350 Black ribbon-tied book box, 25 drawers per a trade report dated 1 September 2023

Reception

Enthusiasm at launch, sharper questions since

In one sentence

Early coverage called this calendar a sell-out success; by 2025, more of it was picking apart whether the £1,600-plus value claim really holds up.

The strongest praise has stayed consistent across the three editions we have tracked: mostly full-size products, not sample sachets, recognisable names such as Charlotte Tilbury and La Mer, and a box built to be kept, not binned, printed each year with the magazine’s own archive cover art. The £75,000 yearly charity donation, stated on Vogue’s own account, gets cited as a genuine point in its favour too.

The criticism has grown louder with each edition, and it is aimed almost entirely at the sums. By the 2025 edition, commentary questioned whether a handful of travel-size samples and small accessories really add up to the value claimed, and whether a magazine’s name justifies £355 when several single-brand skincare houses charge less for a comparable case count. None of that criticism, as far as we have found, has come from a market outside the UK: the only other market we’ve found it sold in is Germany, from 2025, so its reception has the most history here.

Data · against the field

Vogue against three single-brand beauty calendars we track

Vogue’s calendar sits in an unusual spot on price: at £355, it is close to several single-brand luxury skincare and fragrance calendars, but it does not behave like any of them, because there is no single line of products behind it. Here is how it compares with others we track in the same £300-plus bracket.

Vogue and three £300-plus beauty advent calendars: price, contents, best for
Calendar Price What is inside Best for
Vogue £355 A multi-brand edit hand-picked by its editors, plus a digital magazine subscription, valued at over £1,680 Someone who wants several designer names in one box, not one brand’s whole range
Jo Malone £360 Jo Malone’s own candles, colognes and body layers; value not communicated in our records Someone already loyal to Jo Malone’s scent world
Susanne Kaufmann £365 One spa house’s own skincare, valued at £645 Someone who wants depth in a single skincare line, not variety
Niche Beauty £345 A retailer’s own multi-brand edit of niche and prestige names, valued at £1,124.71 Someone after Vogue’s curated-box idea, minus the magazine name attached
Fresh £298 Fresh’s own bath and skincare staples, valued at £360 An easier entry point if you already use Fresh

Prices and values shown are for the specific calendar named on each line, taken from our own catalogue records at the time of writing.

The real split here is between a single maison’s own range and someone else’s edit of everyone else’s best work. Jo Malone, Susanne Kaufmann and Fresh only ever show you their own labels; Niche Beauty and Vogue hand you somebody else’s shopping list instead, which is either the appeal or the drawback, depending on whether you already know exactly what you like.

Where and when to buy the Vogue advent calendar at the best price

The short answer: early. The 2026 edition, the Vogue Festive Calendar 2026, is confirmed live on the brand’s own shop at £355 as of our check on 4 September 2026, and past editions have a track record of selling out not long after launch, historically from around late September.

We have not recorded a mid-season discount on this calendar across the three editions we have tracked, though our checks are spaced weeks apart, not continuous, so a short-lived promotion could have slipped past us. Where to buy: we track this calendar through Vogue‘s own online shop, the only channel we have found it sold through so far.

Mickael Boulley’s analysis

Where the Vogue name earns its price, and where it doesn’t

I like what Vogue is trying to do here: hand a reader several designer names at once, in a box that is actually worth keeping, printed with the magazine’s own archive covers instead of generic snowflakes. I have watched it change shape every single year since 2023, book to fold-out to townhouse, and that is more creative effort on the object than most single-brand calendars bother with.

The £355 price, though, buys you a magazine’s judgement more than it buys you products. Strip out the full-size perfume and one or two headline names, and what is left leans on smaller extras, jewellery trinkets and travel sizes, to reach the over £1,680 claimed. That is not a lie exactly; it is the same accounting every curated box relies on, and it only bothers me because the Vogue name is being sold as the reason to trust the total.

So my honest read: buy it for the editors’ taste and the object itself, not for the arithmetic. If you already know you like at least two or three of the brands British Vogue tends to pick, that is worth £355 on its own. If you are chasing the stated value against the price, a single-brand house with a disclosed case count, several of which sit lower on this page, will hold up its numbers better.

Frequently asked questions

What people ask us about the Vogue advent calendar

Has the 2026 Vogue advent calendar been announced?

Yes: the Vogue Festive Calendar 2026 is confirmed and listed on the brand’s own shop, at £355, the same price as 2024 and 2025. Our own catalogue records it as a 28-product travel-trunk edition valued at over £1,680, checked on 4 September 2026.

Is the Vogue advent calendar sold anywhere other than Vogue’s own shop?

Not in our own records. Across the three editions we have tracked, we have only ever found this calendar listed through Vogue’s own online shop; we have not come across it stocked by a separate beauty or department-store retailer the way several other calendars on this page are.
