Everything about the brand

Lancôme: an advent calendar that’s been running since at least 2016

Lancôme is L’Oréal‘s flagship name in French luxury beauty, built on skincare, makeup and fragrance, not any single hero product. As of 4 September 2026, its UK site carries one advent calendar, reference-priced at £260 and currently showing a promotional £221, with the contents valued on our own listing at £480.

Our picture library for this calendar goes back to 2016, though a price we’re willing to stand behind only starts four seasons ago, in 2022. From there, it has only gone one way: £140, then £165, then £220 twice in a row, and £260 on the listing we checked most recently. Whether that last figure holds as this year’s real price, or eases back once a promotion lands, isn’t something we can call yet.

This page covers the brand and the story behind its advent calendar; today’s price and stock live on the calendar’s own product page.

The essentials in five points

  • One UK line right now: reference-priced at £260 (£221 promotional), valued on our listing at £480, available since 31 August 2026 as checked on 4 September 2026.
  • First appears in our archive in 2016; our earliest confirmed UK price is from 2022.
  • £140 to £220, a rise of 57%: across the four seasons we’ve priced it, 2022 to 2025, the figure never fell.
  • No full-size items in 2020, five out of 24 by 2024: UK reviews suggest the mix has shifted slowly toward bigger sizes.
  • Who it suits: someone who already reaches for La Vie Est Belle or Génifique and wants to try more of the house.

Armand Petitjean, a former associate of the perfumer François Coty, founded Lancôme in 1935. The name comes from the Château de Lancosme, a manor in the Indre valley that inspired him, and its golden rose became the brand’s emblem in 1964, the same year L’Oréal bought the house from Petitjean’s son. Lancôme now sits inside L’Oréal Luxe, the group’s premium division, and describes itself as a leading name in selective luxury beauty across roughly 130 countries.

Trésor, launched in 1952, and La Vie Est Belle, one of the house’s best-selling fragrances, sit alongside skincare names such as Génifique and Absolue and the Hypnôse mascara line. Nutrix, its first cream, dates back to 1936. In 2020, Lancôme bought the Domaine de la Rose in Grasse, seven hectares of organically farmed rose fields tied to the perfume-making tradition UNESCO has recognised in that town, land now certified by Ecocert.

Our own catalogue lists a single Lancôme advent calendar for the UK. In France, Lancôme runs a two-tier system: a full-price calendar sold directly, alongside a cheaper exclusive edition carried by a partner retailer with different contents. Nothing in what we carry suggests that second, lower-priced tier has reached the UK: here, it’s this one calendar or nothing, worth knowing if you’ve seen a cheaper Lancôme calendar advertised elsewhere in Europe.

Data · evolution over time

From £140 to £260: four seasons, one direction

Priced four times, never lower than before

  • On file from 2016, a trusted price only from 2022: the gap between the two is six years of packshots we can’t put a figure next to.
  • £140 in 2022, £165 in 2023, £220 in 2024 and again in 2025: a rise of 57% with no season showing a fall.
  • Two figures for 2022: our live-site backup shows £140 that season, a separate redaction note shows £105, most likely a promotional price our backup didn’t happen to catch.
  • Held flat for one year: 2024 to 2025 is the only pair of consecutive seasons at the same price in our records, so it’s too early to call it a ceiling.
  • £260 on the listing we checked on 4 September 2026, though we can’t yet say if that’s this year’s settled price or a temporary reference figure.

Why the price kept climbing is only partly clear. Woman & Home’s review of the 2020 edition, priced at £105, found no full-size products among its 25 items. By 2024, Grazia counted five full-size items among 24 in total, alongside a claimed £430 of value. A calendar carrying more full-size stock costs more to fill, and that’s the simplest explanation on offer; we can’t rule out that packaging and ingredient costs played a part too. What we can’t confirm is a change in the number of windows itself: none of our sources gives a case count for every edition, so we can’t say whether the box has grown alongside the price or just what’s inside it has.

The price, season by season, since 2022

Lancôme’s UK advent calendar price by season, drawn from full exports of our own live database, plus a separate 2022 note kept by the redaction team
Season Price Source What we know
2026 Not sourced as a season price yet: our live listing on 4 September 2026 shows a reference price of £260 (£221 promotional)
2025 £220.00 Live-site backup Same price as the year before
2024 £220.00 Live-site backup Matches Grazia’s UK review that year
2023 £165.00 Live-site backup Up £25 on the year before
2022 £140.00 Live-site backup A separate redaction note for the same season shows £105
2016 to 2021 Packshots on file, no verified price for these seasons

The 2022 figures come from two different places in our own records: a database export that shows £140, and a redaction note from the same season that shows £105. We’ve kept both instead of picking just one.

Reception

A calendar reviewers like, with one shade of make-up they didn’t

In one sentence

Reviewers like the skincare and fragrance names inside; the recurring complaint is size, and one early edition drew criticism over an unsuitable concealer shade.

Woman & Home’s review of the 2020 edition, then called the Holiday Limited Edition and priced at £105, found no full-size products among its 25 items, and flagged that the concealer shade wasn’t suitable for darker skin tones. Four years later, Grazia’s review of the 2024 edition, priced at £220, a figure that matches what we had on file that year ourselves, counted five full-size products among 24 in total and put the value of the contents at £430; its one real complaint was that most of what’s left is travel-sized.

The coverage we’ve read treats this less as an introduction to Lancôme and more as a chance to restock or sample icons a shopper already knows: La Vie Est Belle and Génifique both come up by name in the reviews we’ve read. That’s consistent with what a single, unsegmented UK calendar implies: there’s no cheaper starter tier to hand to someone who’s never tried the brand.

Data · against the field

What £220 to £260 buys next to Guerlain, Harvey Nichols and John Lewis

We track its calendar alongside four other beauty and luxury boxes sold in the UK: two department-store multi-brand calendars, a lower-priced luxury alternative, and a single-house rival that shares Lancôme’s mono-brand positioning.

Five advent calendars from beauty and department-store names, price by price
Calendar Price What’s inside Best for
Lancôme £260.00 One house, skincare, makeup and fragrance in a single calendar, valued on our listing at £480 Someone who already uses the brand and wants more of it
Guerlain Advent Calendar £560.00 One maison, no value figure stated in the listing we track A higher-end anchor, more than double Lancôme’s price
Harvey Nichols Advent Calendar £250.00 Multi-brand luxury box, valued by the store at £1,000 A big, department-store style gift
John Lewis Beauty Advent Calendar £250.00 Multi-brand beauty box, valued at £1,160 Comparing dozens of names in one box
Saks Fifth Avenue Advent Calendar £187.61 Multi-brand luxury box, no value figure stated in the listing we track A lower-priced way into a department-store calendar

Prices and values shown are for the specific calendar named on each line, taken from our own catalogue. Where a rival brand runs several lines, we’ve picked the single calendar closest to Lancôme in price to represent it, ignoring the rest of its range.

Mono-brand against multi-brand matters more here than the price column does. Guerlain is the nearest like-for-like comparison, another single maison’s icons behind every window; Harvey Nichols and John Lewis instead spread dozens of names across theirs, closer to a department store’s own Christmas shop than to a single house’s calendar. Saks Fifth Avenue is the cheapest calendar in this table but gives us no value figure to weigh it against at all; Harvey Nichols and John Lewis actually sit closest to Lancôme on price, within £10 either side.

Where and when to buy the Lancôme advent calendar at the best price

The listing we checked most recently, on 4 September 2026, marks the calendar Available, on sale since 31 August 2026, at a reference price of £260 with a promotional price of £221.

The clearest sign of a Lancôme promotion in our records sits in the archive. In 2022, our live-site backup recorded £140 that autumn, while a separate redaction note from the same season put the price at £105. We didn’t log two different products that year, so the most likely explanation is a discount window our backup simply didn’t happen to catch: both figures are accurate for the moment each was recorded.

We track this listing through Lancôme’s own UK site, where the calendar is sold directly.

Mickael Boulley’s analysis

One calendar, four rising prices, and my honest take

What stands out to me is how steadily this price has climbed without much sign the calendar itself has grown to match. Every season we’ve priced it, from £140 in 2022 to £220 by 2024, the number went up, and the listing I checked on 4 September 2026 shows £260 next in line. Woman & Home’s 2020 review found no full-size products at all in the box; by 2024, Grazia counted five out of 24. That’s real progress, but it still leaves most of what’s inside in travel size.

I wouldn’t buy this one for a Lancôme newcomer. It suits someone who already owns a bottle of La Vie Est Belle or a jar of Génifique and wants a cheaper way to try more of the house, not someone deciding whether they like the brand in the first place. The two-tier trick Lancôme runs in France, a full-price calendar alongside a cheaper exclusive through a partner retailer, hasn’t reached the UK as far as our catalogue shows: here, it’s one calendar or nothing.

My honest verdict: it’s a fair way to sample a name-brand house at less than full retail, provided you don’t mind that most of what’s left after the full-size items is travel-sized. If the £260 reference price holds for this year, that’s £120 more than our own records show it costing back in 2022. Whether the box has actually grown to match is something none of our sources, or Lancôme’s own listing, actually states.

Frequently asked questions

What our search data shows people actually ask

When does the Lancôme advent calendar usually go on sale?

Our own records don’t track exact on-sale dates for past seasons, only the price we found each autumn. For the current listing, the calendar’s own product page carries the exact date it went live.

Is the Lancôme advent calendar sold in the UK?

Yes. We track it through Lancôme’s own UK website, where it’s listed as available since 31 August 2026, checked on 4 September 2026. Search interest in this calendar reaches us in many languages beyond English, which tells us plenty of that traffic is likely looking for a version sold on a different Lancôme site instead.
