The Minecraft Advent Calendar 2026 swaps last year’s twelve static minis for 3 articulated figures behind its 24 doors: Steve, a Gingerbread man and Krampus, plus 15 festive accessories, 5 stickers and a digital code that unlocks an in-game item. Twenty-three physical surprises in all, from a pixel gift chest to a peppermint crossbow, with no minis to collect this time. It leans on scene-building and play over sheer character count, which makes it one for a Minecraft fan from 6 years up who likes posing and staging their blocky world rather than lining up a shelf of tiny figures.
Minecraft Advent Calendar 2026: 3 articulated figures, 15 accessories and a digital code
The Minecraft Advent Calendar 2026 changes course this year. Behind its 24 doors Mattel drops the old batch of tiny static figures and gives you 3 articulated figures at 3.25-inch scale (about 8.2 cm): Steve, a Gingerbread man and Krampus, the folklore Christmas devil. Add 15 festive accessories, 5 stickers and one digital item code, and the printed box keeps the blocky, pixel-faithful look of the game.
So it is fewer characters than before, but bigger ones you can actually pose. The reference is JNK87, the age is marked from 6 years, and the real question is whether three figures plus a pile of props beats a dozen minis. That is where buyers will split.
What is inside the Minecraft Advent Calendar?
Twenty-four doors, 23 physical surprises and one code. The split is unusually top-heavy for a licensed toy calendar:
- 3 articulated figures (Steve, Gingerbread, Krampus), 3.25-inch scale, posable joints
- 15 festive accessories: gift chest, coal, a candy cane, a peppermint crossbow and more, all in the Minecraft pixel style
- 5 stickers
- 1 digital item code that unlocks an accessory inside the Minecraft game
That digital code is the new idea for 2026, and it is the first time this calendar reaches off the shelf and into the game itself. The three figures carry most of the play value; the accessories are what turn a shelf line-up into a build-your-own Christmas scene.
The door-by-door breakdown sits in the SPOILER tab.
From twelve minis to three posable figures: what Mattel changed
The previous Minecraft calendar was a Mob Head Minis affair: 12 small static figures and 12 stickers, nothing to build with and no link to the game. This 2026 edition goes the other way. It cuts the character count from 12 to 3, but each figure is larger and actually articulated, and it bolts on 15 accessories where last year had none.
The trade is honest and worth weighing. You lose the pleasure of opening a new little character most mornings; many of the early doors now hide props, not people. You gain figures a six-year-old can pose and a scene they can rebuild after Christmas, plus a code that does something in the game they already play.
What the contents are worth
Mattel does not publish a content value for this calendar, and the exclusive figures are not sold on their own, so any total would be invented. I will not do that. What I can do is divide the launch price.
Take the £45.99 RRP across the 23 physical pieces and you land at roughly £2 a surprise. Put all of it against the 3 figures alone and that is about £15.33 per figure, with the accessories, stickers and code thrown in on top. For a licensed, posable figure at this scale that reads fair rather than cheap, and the fifteen props are the part that stops it feeling thin.
My view on the Minecraft Advent Calendar 2026
Three figures instead of twelve sounds like a downgrade. It isn’t, quite. What works is the play, not the count: Steve, a Gingerbread man and Krampus you can pose, surrounded by a crossbow, a gift chest and a candy cane, is a proper little set rather than a tray of trinkets. The digital code is a genuinely smart touch for a kid who is already in the game.
My honest reservation, after years of watching these licensed calendars, is simple: ‘the morning magic of opening a new character is largely gone, traded for props that mean less to a young child on day three’. Krampus is also a curious call for a box aimed from 6 years; charming to some parents, a bit much for others.
So the split is clear. For a Minecraft fan who loves staging their characters, this is the better toy. For a collector who wanted to line up a dozen minis, it will feel short.
