Where it slips is durability. A heavily-handled anti-stress squishy wears, gets grubby and holds no collection or resale value, because the minis are exclusive and never sold apart. You’re not buying 24 things to keep, you’re buying 24 small daily moments. For a fidget fan the sums add up; for someone after a gift that lasts, they don’t. At £1.25 a door it sits as a mid-range, playful gift, one that speaks to a child from age 3 as readily as to an adult hooked on things to fiddle with. As I’d sum it up: ‘you’re paying for the daily squeeze, not for something to shelve.’

NeeDoh, the anti-stress toy by Schylling

NeeDoh is the squeeze toy from Schylling, an American maker of classic and sensory toys for close to fifty years. The idea behind it is small and stubborn: a soft ball that gives under the fingers and springs back, sold on the plain promise of ‘Squeeze, Squish, Smile‘.
