Whittard Tea Advent Calendar (couple)
£29.95
The Whittard Tea Advent Calendar 2026 turns the whole countdown over to black tea: 48 individually wrapped teabags, two a day, across 16 blends and nothing else. Eight are pure classics (Ceylon, Darjeeling, Tippy Assam), five are flavoured (Earl Grey, English Rose, the hibiscus-lifted Piccadilly), and three are proper spiced chai. No green, no fruit, no herbal filler, and the set is vegan-friendly. One for anyone who already takes their tea black and wants 24 mornings of it.
Whittard Tea Advent Calendar 2026: 48 teabags, 16 black tea blends, one cup at a time
The Whittard Tea Advent Calendar 2026 does something its past editions never did: it hands the whole countdown over to one style of tea. Behind the 24 doors sit 48 individually wrapped teabags, two a day, drawn from 16 black tea blends and nothing else. No green, no fruit, no herbal filler, just black tea from the first cup to the last.
It runs from pure single-origin classics like Ceylon, Darjeeling and Tippy Assam through Whittard’s own house blends and into warming chai, so the daily cup keeps shifting without ever leaving the category. Tea drinkers who already know they take it black, builders’ brew in the morning and something spiced after dark, will get more out of this than a mixed box that spreads itself thin.
The spirit of Whittard
Whittard of Chelsea has sold loose tea since 1886, and the house blends on this calendar are the ones that carry its name around London: Chelsea Breakfast, Piccadilly, English Rose. The brand’s whole pitch is range, the idea that tea is a cupboard of choices rather than one default brew. A calendar built entirely around black tea is an odd fit for a range brand on paper, yet it plays to Whittard’s deepest shelf: this is the style it has blended longest.
What’s inside the Whittard black tea calendar
The 16 blends split cleanly into three groups. Eight are pure black teas (Ceylon, Chelsea Breakfast, Darjeeling, English Breakfast, Festive Breakfast, Irish Tea, Tippy Assam, Kenya). Five are flavoured black teas (Afternoon Tea, Christmas Tea, Earl Grey, English Rose and Piccadilly, that last one lifted with a touch of hibiscus). The final three are spiced chai: Masala, Vanilla and Coconut, each a real blend of ginger, cinnamon, cardamom and clove rather than a flavouring shortcut. Every teabag is individually wrapped, which matters more than it sounds for keeping 48 separate brews fresh across a month. The set is suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
Whittard hasn’t published a content value for this edition, so there is no official worth to quote. What I can give you is the maths on the box itself: at its £29.95 launch price, those 48 teabags work out at roughly 62p a bag, or about £1.25 a day across the 24 doors. That sits a little above a supermarket bag and well below a café brew, which is the honest place for a premium loose-tea house selling in teabag form.
The door-by-door breakdown, blend by blend, sits in the SPOILER tab.
What changed from last year’s Whittard calendar
Here is the one real change, said plainly: the calendar is no longer a general tea mix. Last year’s edition spread its 16 varieties across styles with no particular point of view. This year the whole collection is dedicated to black tea, classics and festive blends together, with chai doing the heavy lifting on variety. The format is identical, still 24 days and still 48 individually wrapped teabags. So the decision is simple: if you drink black tea, this edition is more focused than the one before it; if you wanted the green and herbal variety of the old box, this is not it.
My view on the Whittard Tea Advent Calendar 2026
What wins me over is the focus. A tea calendar that commits to one style instead of hedging across four is a braver, better object, because the daily surprise still lands, Ceylon one morning, Coconut Chai the next, without the box padding itself out with flavours you will never reach for. The chai trio alone, three distinct spice builds rather than one repeated, does more for variety than half a dozen fruit infusions would.
Where it asks for trust is the teabag format. Whittard made its name on loose leaf, and a purist will notice the drop from loose tea to bags, however neatly each one is wrapped. As Whittard puts it, this is ‘a festive celebration of black tea, one cup at a time’, and that is exactly the right expectation: it is an everyday-mug calendar, not a ceremony. Lovers of black tea will finish December having actually tried all 16 blends, which is more than most mixed calendars can claim.
- Not for you if you wanted green, fruit or herbal teas, or if you only drink loose leaf.
- Worth it if you take your tea black and like the idea of 16 blends, chai included, over 24 mornings.
