No glassware, no tonic, just 24 distinct gins to taste, one for adults who love gin and want to explore widely before buying a full bottle.
Virgin Wines Gin Advent Calendar 2026
The Virgin Wines Gin Advent Calendar 2026 lines up 24 mini 5cl bottles behind its doors, one gin a day from 1 to 24 December. This year’s run leans on distilleries across the UK and Ireland: Yorkshire, Edinburgh, the Scottish Highlands, London and County Mayo all get a look-in, from dry classics to liqueurs and flavoured gins. It’s a premium calendar at £99.99, built for adults who love gin and want to taste widely before committing to a full bottle.
Expect the line-up to swing between familiar London Dry and something you’ve probably never poured. The Masons Yorkshire Tea Gin is a proper oddity, best with a twist of lemon; the Rock Rose Smoked Orange Gin trades on citrus and woodsmoke; and the Boe Peach & Hibiscus Gin brings ripe fruit and soft florals for anyone who finds juniper-forward gins too austere.
What’s inside the Virgin Wines gin calendar
Twenty-four gins, no fillers, no glassware, no tonic. Every door is a 5cl miniature, which adds up to 120cl in total, a little over 1.7 standard 70cl bottles spread across 24 different gins from 14 distilleries. That variety is the whole point of this format, and it’s where a gin calendar earns its keep or doesn’t.
The spread is genuinely wide. London Dry and Navy Strength sit next to fruit liqueurs (Edinburgh Elderflower, The Henley Distillery Blackberry & Orange), flavoured gins (Two Birds Rhubarb, Keeprs Raspberry, Boe Peach & Hibiscus) and regional bottlings from Scotland, Ireland and Galicia. The Grace O’Malley Heather Infused Irish Gin is the maritime outlier; the Nordes Atlantic Galician Gin the one most people won’t have met. Amateurs of botanical gin get the broadest run; anyone after a single house style won’t find it here, and that’s by design.
Content value: not disclosed by Virgin Wines. As with most spirits calendars, the brand doesn’t publish a headline figure. What we can put a number on is the per-door price: divide the £99.99 launch price by the 24 bottles and each miniature works out at roughly £4.17, which is about what a branded 5cl gin sample costs bought on its own.

2026 edition compared to last year
The structure hasn’t moved: still 24 mini 5cl gins, still £99.99, same spread of dry, flavoured and regional bottlings. What’s changed is the roster. Eight distilleries carry over from the previous edition, among them Portobello Road, Rock Rose, Grace O’Malley, The Henley Distillery, Edinburgh Gin, Masons, Warner’s and Two Birds.
The new arrivals for 2026 are the interesting part: Nordes Atlantic Galician Gin, Brockmans, Keeprs, 1606, Boe and Mr White’s London Dry all join for the first time. In return, a long list departs: York Gin, Pickering’s, Tarquin’s, Ludlow, Manly Spirits, Berkshire Botanicals, 6 O’Clock, Manchester, HYKE, Opihr, Biggar, Wildjac, Otterbeck, Tobermory and Salcombe are all out. If you bought last year, you’re looking at a largely refreshed set for the same money.
Our verdict on the Virgin Wines gin calendar
What convinces first is the reach of the selection. Twenty-four gins, no repeats, and a real effort to go beyond the usual London Dry suspects: the Masons Yorkshire Tea Gin and the Nordes Galician bottling are the kind of things you’d never buy as a full bottle on spec, and that’s exactly what a tasting calendar is for. A gin drinker who likes to explore will get four weeks of genuine discovery out of this.
Where it asks for trust is the value question. At £99.99 for 120cl, you’re paying a clear premium over the liquid, because you’re buying the curation and the 24 distinct expressions, not the volume. Virgin Wines doesn’t publish a contents value, so there’s no headline saving to lean on. As one way to read it: ‘treat it as 24 tasting measures rather than a bottle-for-bottle bargain, and it adds up‘. Fans of botanical and flavoured gin will get the most out of it. If you only drink one house style, or you want a refillable keepsake box, this isn’t the one.
The Virgin Wines story
Virgin Wines was founded in 2000 and built its name sourcing drinks direct from producers around the world, cutting out the middle tiers so it could back smaller distilleries and vineyards. That buying model is what shows up in this calendar: the roster reaches past the big supermarket names to the likes of Rock Rose in Caithness and Grace O’Malley on the west coast of Ireland.
The same hands-on sourcing that defines its wine range shapes the gin line-up here, which is why the 24 doors swing between recognised classics and small-batch bottlings you’d struggle to find on a shelf. You can see the full range on virginwines.co.uk.
