Selfridges Fragrance Calendar vs The Big Beauty Haul

Selfridges runs two calendars side by side. The Big Beauty Haul is broad: skincare, makeup, body and fragrance across 35 or so brands, 25 doors, at the higher £250 tier. The Fragrance Haul is narrow on purpose: twelve doors, all perfume, niche houses only, at half the price.

The pick depends on you. If you already have a skincare routine sorted and want the countdown to actually teach you something about niche perfumery, this shorter, cheaper box is the more interesting object. If you want a full beauty edit with plenty of variety, the Selfridges Beauty Advent Calendar is the one.

My verdict on the Selfridges Fragrance Advent Calendar 2026

I have not held this box yet, and Selfridges has made no official announcement at time of writing, so treat this as a read on leaked images. Even so, the detail is specific enough to judge. What convinces first is the calibre of the houses: a single full-size Fragrance Du Bois Patchouli Gourmand retails at £320 on its own, and the Ormonde Jayne at £225 is close to the whole calendar price. ‘Worth well over £1,500 for half the line-up’ is arithmetic, not marketing.

Where it gets complicated is the format and the leak. Twelve days is shorter than most advent calendars, so anyone wanting to reach 24 December will need to double up. And if you have seen the spoiler images, roughly half the surprise is already gone. The value, though, is hard to argue with, and the curation is real: heavy orientals, lighter florals and genuinely experimental compositions, not the same house repeated across drawers.

Fragrance collectors happy to pay for discovery over sheer quantity will get a lot here. Anyone who prefers 24 daily surprises to twelve, or wants a more predictable line-up, should look elsewhere.

The calendar has not gone on sale officially at time of writing. Based on Selfridges’ previous launch windows for its fragrance calendars, availability is expected in autumn 2026.
